Production Process

Zinc and lead are typically found in the same ores and are often mined together. The process of extracting zinc and lead from the ore involves several steps, including crushing and grinding the ore, froth flotation, and smelting.

After the ore is mined, it is crushed and ground into a fine powder. This powder is then mixed with water and chemicals to create a slurry. The slurry is then fed into a series of tanks where it is agitated with air to create bubbles. The bubbles attach to the zinc and lead particles, causing them to rise to the top of the tank and form a froth.

The froth is then skimmed off and dried, leaving behind a concentrate that contains both zinc and lead. The concentrate is then roasted to remove any impurities and to convert the zinc and lead sulfides into oxides. The resulting product is then smelted, producing zinc and lead metal.
